Letter 1904, June 4, New York City to Mr. Edwin Markham, [Staten Island], N.Y. / Arthur Brisbane. 1904.

He thanks him for his friendly letter. He say that he give the facts to Mr. Hearst's confidential man. He believes that Mr. Hearst could be hurt by the lies of the small fry and that there is a small chance of any honest man succeeding. Enclosed with this letter, he returns a copy of "Goose Hill" to Mr. Markham.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland.
